THE HEALTH CHECK

THE HEALTH CHECK

With the help of one of the examinations from PREPTIC, you can gain insight into your health. This is you first step towards a longer and vital life.

Questionnaire

Before the nurse visits you, you will receive an email with all the information. It also contains the link to fill out the questionnaire online. The answers to the questions, along with the measurements and blood test results, will be analyzed to provide personalized advice. Therefore, it is important that you complete the questionnaire fully and truthfully.

Measurements and blood collection

A registered nurse with a professional qualification (BIG registration) will visit your home or office to take measurements and collect the blood sample. This nurse is competent because he/she has completed nursing education and training. In addition, the nurse has also taken an exam with PREPTIC to demonstrate mastery of the techniques. A certificate has been issued for this which he/she will carry with him. You can always ask to show it. The nurse will always identify himself of herself with a PREPTIC card.

The appointment starts with measuring some values such as blood pressure, heart rate and waist circumference. Then blood will be taken, depending on the examination, these are 3 or 4 tubes. The appointment will take a maximum of 20 minutes.

How can I prepare myself?

To obtain a reliable picture of your health and blood values, it is important that you do not eat differently than you normally would on the day of the blood collection. Additionally, try to avoid consuming products with high sugar or fat content just before the blood collection. You do not need to be fasting for the blood test. It is convenient to wear loose-fitting clothing so that your elbow crease can be easily exposed. If you are nervous for the blood collection, feel free to let the nurse know; they can take that into account.

Can side effects occur?

There are rarely side effects from a blood sample collection. However, it is possible that you do notice something. Possible complications after blood collection include:

– A bruise or hematoma can develop at the puncture site, which will disappear after a few days.
– The puncture site may be sensitive, which will fade away after a few hours.
– Very rarely, bleeding can occur, especially with people with clotting disorders or if blood-thinning medicines are used. If a post-bleeding occurs, please get in touch with one of our doctors or your own general practitioner.
